In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the most effective assisted reproductive technologies available today. This comprehensive guide walks you through every step of the process, from your initial consultation to the joy of a positive pregnancy test.

What is IVF?

IVF is a process where eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a specialized laboratory. The resulting embryos are cultured for several days before the healthiest one is transferred back to the uterus.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a thorough evaluation. We review your medical history, perform diagnostic tests, and create a personalized treatment plan. This is also the time to ask questions and understand what to expect.

Step 2: Ovarian Stimulation

For approximately 8-14 days, you'll take fertility medications to stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Regular monitoring through blood tests and ultrasounds ensures optimal response.

Step 3: Egg Retrieval

A minor procedure performed under light sedation. Using ultrasound guidance, eggs are gently aspirated from the ovarian follicles. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes.

Step 4: Fertilization & Embryo Culture

Retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm in our state-of-the-art laboratory. Embryos are monitored using time-lapse technology as they develop over 5-6 days to the blastocyst stage.

Step 5: Embryo Transfer

The healthiest embryo is selected and gently transferred to the uterus using a thin catheter. This is a painless procedure that takes just a few minutes. Additional quality embryos can be frozen for future use.

What's Next?

About two weeks after transfer, a blood test confirms pregnancy. Throughout this waiting period, our team provides support and guidance to help you stay positive and healthy.
